Building Community & Revenue

THE ASSOCIATION OF OLD CROWS

“We trust Voxtopica to help us develop and produce shows our audience loves. The team's knowledge and experience has resulted in a podcast that’s paying for itself.”

Establish a revenue-neutral communication channel that creates a sense of community.

The Association of Old Crows (AOC) is an organization for individuals who have common interests in Electronic Warfare (EW), Electromagnetic Spectrum Operations (EMSO), Cyber Electromagnetic Activities (CEMA), Information Operations (IO), and other information-related capabilities. AOC connects members and organizations nationally and internationally across government, defense, industry, and academia to promote the exchange of ideas and information and recognize advances and contributions in these fields.

The Challenge

AOC has a highly niche audience that works in extremely technical fields within the defense industry.

Communicating effectively with their small but global network through traditional channels like social media and email newsletters is effective but impersonal, so they wanted a way to create a greater sense of community among their members and within their industry. As a non-profit organization, AOC needed a mechanism that would pay for itself and, if possible, be revenue-positive.

Voxtopica’s Solution

Voxtopica helped the Association create a one-of-a-kind podcast that delves into the intricacies of electromagnetic spectrum operations through conversations with leaders in government, industry, academia, and the military.

To ensure AOC reaches its international audience, Voxtopica has helped produce podcast content from the organization’s international conferences in the U.S.A. and Europe, and in venues as wide-ranging as military bases and English pubs.

Voxtopica’s advanced podcast data and analytics capabilities provide AOC with the information it needs to acquire sponsorship deals that generate the revenue to cover production costs. In the summer of 2024, Voxtopica helped the Association launch subscription-only podcast episodes to generate even more revenue, which will also be available as a free perk for paying Association members.
